RV @ QSP

Fundraising efforts are underway to bring approximately 30 RV campsites to the park, to be located east of the park’s office. Each site will be equipped with electric and water hookups. Additionally, a permanent restroom and shower facility, as well as an onsite dump station, are part of the project.
The Colfax Park Auxiliary Board, with the support of the City of Colfax, believes the “RV@QSP” project will generate future revenue for the park and the city, as well as enhance the park for a greater number of outdoor enthusiasts.
In the more than four years since Quarry Springs Park opened as a community outdoor recreation destination in central Iowa, donations, grant funds, and more than 36,000 volunteer hours have improved the park for all who visit.
Activities at Quarry Springs Park include fishing, walking and biking trails, primitive camping, kayaking and canoeing, bird watching, and picnicking. Park benches, picnic tables and osprey nests have been added, and three park shelters will be built next year as well.
Quarry Springs Park has hosted the annual free Kids’ Fishing Derby, multiple concerts, Paddle Skedaddle – a 3.5 mile run/walk & 2 mile kayak race – and several other fundraising events benefitting the park. Community small businesses and groups – like kayak rentals and sales concessionaire Quarry Springs Outfitters – have hosted events at the park that have also served to support efforts to improve park amenities. Due to those efforts, an ADA-compliant fishing dock is also in the works.
With the support of the community, the Colfax Park Auxiliary Board hopes to commence construction of the “RV@QSP” project in the spring of 2024.
